Circular Delta
The Circular Delta programme focuses on the transition to sustainable raw materials. The aim is to make industry more sustainable by reducing the use of primary raw materials, transitioning to sustainable raw materials and building circular chains in our members' processes. The reliable availability of industrial water also plays an important role. Circular water use is the ambition (e.g. for cooling, steam, process water, etc.). In addition, a lot of industrial demineralised water is needed for electrolysis.
Cross-border circularity
Within the cross-border cluster, we are looking at opportunities to shape cooperation in the field of circularity and to think strategically about the further development and optimisation of material flows to and within the cluster. SDR does this broadly by focusing on two circular sub-themes: carbon and water.
For both flows, sounding board groups have been set up to consider the opportunities, obstacles and concrete proposals within the cluster. To this end, SDR is conducting studies with the participants and organising events where the various companies can come together to discuss the circular economy, such as the Circular Industry Day. Follow the link to read about some concrete projects in the cluster area.
Concrete collaborations
But it doesn't stop there. Since Circular Industry Day, the sounding board groups have continued to work towards more concrete collaborative projects in the North Sea Port region. SDR is doing this in close consultation with the parties involved, also looking at the (policy) barriers to ending waste. Because, in a circular system, waste is a valuable raw material. And it is precisely in this area that this cluster offers great potential for collaboration due to the diversity of sectors.
